One Of Those Days

Last night Gus was up – every 30 minutes to an hour.

Every time I’d start to fall back to sleep, he’d wake up screaming again. SCREAMING for mommy. And then when I’d walk into his room, he’d say:

“Hey mommy! You have a belly!”
“HONK HONK!” while he poked my boobs.
“I NEED MY WATER!” while he was holding a full cup of water in his hand.

This went on from approximately 10:30 to 5 am.

That’s when Mike found me sobbing in the bathroom, and took over, and we all piled into our bed and slept for another hour.

Then I showed up for a doctors appointment that was actually scheduled for NEXT Tuesday, and they thankfully had an opening today a few hours later.

Then I showed up for THAT appointment, only to be left with my screaming child in a hot exam room for 45 minutes.

Also, in the middle of all of this, Mike was packing up and leaving for a business trip, and – thanks to the extra long wait – Gus and I wouldn’t be able to see him before he left for the airport.

So then I had to play my (sweaty, hysterical, ugly crying) I’m going to leave in five minutes card, if no one can come see us.

The diagnosis: double ear infections.

Then they called the prescription into the wrong pharmacy, and all went to lunch so it took two hours to get it corrected and filled.

Thankfully Gus is taking a decent nap, and we can get him his medicine as soon as he wakes up.

I hope the rest of our day (particularly the nighttime part) is less eventful.

  1. I’m so sorry you’ve had to deal with all of this, especially while your husband is out of town! I hope the medicine makes Gus feel better and you can all get some sleep tonight.

  2. UGH, when it rains, it sure pours. Tomorrow is a new day. And it will be better! Sorry today was so crummy. I’ve had those days. I hope you get a good nights sleep tonight!
