Twenty months already?! It really does go by in the blink of an eye (even if it doesn’t feel that way when you’re living with a newborn). I can’t believe we’re only a few months away from Gus’ second birthday.
Likes: I think I have a future chef on my hands (or maybe a kitchen reorganizer) because my rolling pin, and silicone basting brush are two of his favorite things. Granted, I’m in the middle of packing up everything we own so the pickins are slim in the kitchen drawers. And if he’s not destined to be a chef, then he will definitely work in a haunted house – the only thing he loves more than jumping out and scaring us, is me scaring the bejesus out of him.
Dislikes: Communicating what he wants and needs is still really frustrating for Gus. He obviously knows what he wants, but just doesn’t have the ability to ask me. I *have* been working with him on saying please when he asks for things, which has ultimately resulted in a lot of, “mama please,” but I still have no idea what we’re talking about.
Sleep: As long as his teeth aren’t bothering him, Gus sleeps like a champ. He’s still in our bed, and I plan to start the transition to his room as soon as we’re moved into the new house and back from family vacation. He regularly talks in his sleep, which is adorable. A few night ago he sat up and just started making animal sounds, “Baaaaaaa! Moooooo! Uh-oh!” and then laid back down.
Eating: I’m fairly certain Gus’ actual blood-type is apple juice. Maybe goldfish crackers. Probably cheese. They’re the only things I can consistently get him to eat. (By apple juice, I mean mostly water with a splash of juice. God help me the first time he ever has pure, uncut juice.)
Clothes: 18-24 months for pants, 24 months and some 2T for shirts, and pajamas and size 4 diapers.
New Tricks: Gus is starting to combine words into teeny tiny sentences. It’s mostly Hi/Bye + Mama/Dada/Daisy/Jake, or More + Please/Mama/Juice/Bubbles
Teeth: Three of the four canines are through (finally!) and the last one is slowly torturing us all. Tooth tally: 15.
*Whooooooo (like an owl)
*new this month
… Also, HAPPY FATHER’S DAY to my dad, my husband, all the other dads, soon-to-be dads, and someday dads!
We celebrated with breakfast, more packing (we move out on Wednesday!) and a little commissioned cartoon, which is adorable, if you ask me.
